Lawer Dixon-Candidate for Financial Secretary

 Lawer Dixon Jr. has been a member of the Chicago Teachers Union since 1990. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education in 1976 from Elmhurst College. Lawer currently teaches physical education but has taught as a day to day substitute teacher, cadre, FTB, and playground teacher. Mr. Dixon is a lifelong resident of the City of Chicago.

Lawer’s union involvement includes:

-Delegate for The Chicago Military Academy-Bronzeville

-Sergeant -At-Arms

-Convention Delegate for the Illinois Federation of Teachers

-Convention Delegate for the American Federation of Teachers

-Served on the Illinois State Teacher Certification Board

-Served on the Committee for the Physical Education Executive Board

-Sergeant of Arms Committee

-Illinois State Teacher Certification Board

My main concern is for our Union members. We work hard under very poor conditions and the membership deserves accountability from the Union that I will strive to ensure with integrity. The time has come for the union members to be served with diligence and honesty. I will bring these qualities to the Chicago Teachers Union as the financial secretary and represent the members to the best of my abilities.
